Webinar Beneficial Art: Woodcut
Is there a kinder way to practice art?
Voluntarily or involuntarily, we all had time to think about our priorities lately.
Are any of the following a priority for you?
• I want to find a way to make art in a harmless way.
• I want to practice my art in a way that is healthy for me and for the environment.
• I want to find something I can do in a simple or simpler way.
• I want to make art using materials that are already available at home or in nature.
• I want to occupy my time with creativity.
If these statements made you think about what art|printmaking will be, or what you will be doing creatively in the future, this may be the right webinar for you.
August 29, 2020 (Saturday) 2-3 pm EST time. Sign up here.

I started working with old sewing patterns in 2015. I have been thinking about the patterns we create in our lives and how they are only products of our beliefs. Quantum physics, epigenetics, brain studies and other developments in science show us how mistaken can be a life based on old/negative patterns. How to break these patterns and keep the positive ones?

GAC - Group Art Counseling Where to show– September 19, 2017 – 6-8 pm – Snow Camp
I am going to talk about and answer questions about places to show your art. I'll share my experience/information on galleries, art centers, alternative venues mainly in the Triangle area. Beyond what you can find on websites.
Where to start showing? Is it worthy to wait 2 years to have a show? Do I need to produce my marketing material? Zero commission galleries are really 0% commission? What about writing proposals?
Fee: donation based. Suggested donation $10
Registrations: ely@printosynthesis.com

Local artists and non-artists gathered for a conversation about monetary value in relationship to making art. In previous Articulating Value conversations we approached issues surrounding salary, labor-value, concrete economic conditions, shared goals and personal responsibility in the art-making economy.
Time for sharing ideas and thinking about practical ways to improve the current situation.

Monoprints on fabric and reclaimed clothes/sheets having clothes as matrices. Videos and video shooting/interviews (please see schedule below):
I have been collecting clothes from friends, family and my previous exhibitions visitors. These clothes are the matrices for my monoprints on fabric. I also record interviews with the donors where they talk about the clothes they donated. Most of the clothes have a story, they were worn for a long time, the person who owned the clothes had an emotional attachment to it, they only used them in special occasions, etc. What I noticed is that those clothes have one thing in common: they are stories of relationships. A material reminder of an interaction with a living person, with someone they missed or a particular situation in their lives. The interface.

I have been collecting clothes from friends, family and my previous exhibitions visitors. Most of the clothes have a story, they were worn for a long time, the person who owned the clothes had an emotional attachment to it, they only used them in special occasions, etc.
I believe tthat what I transfer to the substrate (a piece of fabric, a reclaimed sheet) is not only the material image but also part of the memory/energy of the clothes and their owners/users.
Lately I have also been recording videos with the clothes donors. They talk about the history/stories of the clothes and their own.
During the exhibition I collected clothes and recorded videos on Aug 2, 4, 9, 10, 12.
